The Borruto Family Two generations of musicians, one family, twenty years on stage

A family before it was a band

The Borruto Family is not a line-up put together for the occasion. It is a family of musicians who have played together since 2002: a father, an uncle, two sons. That continuity can be heard — in the glances that are enough to start a tune, in the silences nobody needs to count, in the way a solo is picked up without a word being said. It is the thing that cannot be rehearsed, and audiences recognise it immediately.

From the beginning to today

It all starts with Tony Borruto, the father: singer and bass player, the artistic backbone of the project and the first to put music at the centre of the household. Beside him, Toto Borruto, the uncle, guitarist and lifelong partner, brings the generous energy and spirit of sharing that have remained the band's signature.

The sons, Pascal and Manu, grew up in this music before choosing it. Early on, they developed a rare chemistry: a mutual listening and a spontaneity that became their trademark. Together they form “The Two Brothers”, a tightly knit duo in which every note breathes freedom.

The repertoire carries that double origin. The gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt is the foundation, but Italian swing holds a place in it that few bands in the style give it — that is family heritage, not a selling point. To this are added original compositions and the timeless songs an audience starts singing without being asked.

Four musicians, two generations

Depending on the line-up chosen, the band appears as a duo, a trio, a quartet or a quintet. Here is who plays.

Tony Borruto, bass player and singer of the Borruto Family

Tony Borruto

Bass & vocals

The father. Singer and bass player, he provides the harmonic foundation and the voice. The project came from him.

Toto Borruto, guitarist of the Borruto Family

Toto Borruto

Guitar

The uncle. Rhythm and melody guitarist, there from the very first day, he brings the generous energy that gets a room on its feet.

Pascal Borruto, gypsy jazz lead guitarist

Pascal Borruto

Lead guitar

The elder son. On lead guitar he brings finesse and sensitivity. He is also the one who teaches the gypsy jazz guitar masterclasses.

Manu Borruto, rhythm guitarist and percussionist

Manu Borruto

Percussion & guitar

The younger son. Guitarist and percussionist, he drives the rhythm and the elegance. He is also your contact for any booking enquiry.

What we play

Django Reinhardt

The foundation: the standards of the Quintette du Hot Club de France, played the way they should be — fast when they need to be, slow when the room asks for it.

Italian swing

The family heritage. Melodies audiences recognise without being able to name them, and which bridge two musical cultures rarely brought together.

Our own compositions

Tunes written by the band, in the language of the style but in our own words. Several can be heard freely on the Media page.

Swing, bossa & songs

The swing of the 1930s and 1940s, bossa nova, and the timeless songs that bring every generation in a room together.

From duo to quintet

The line-up is not a package: it is chosen according to the venue, the moment and the mood. A living room does not call for the same thing as a festival stage.

Duo — “The Two Brothers”

Pascal and Manu, two guitars and percussion. The most intimate and most mobile option: a living room, a garden, a small cocktail hour.

Trio

Adding a voice or a bass. The right balance between presence and discretion, for a cocktail or a reception.

Quartet

The full family line-up. Enough substance to hold a room, enough flexibility to stay elegant as background music.

Quintet

The concert line-up. This is the one for stages and festivals, when the music is what the audience came for.
